Vantage Plans eliminate all deductibles that a Medicare beneficiary has under Original Medicare, while enhancing many of the benefits. Medicare beneficiaries currently have Medicare Part A, which usually does not require a premium, because about 99% of Medicare beneficiaries have at least 40 quarters for Medicare-Covered employments. The one percent of beneficiaries that have fewer than 40 quarters may have to pay a Part A premium. Either way, the beneficiary is still responsible for the $1024 deductible for Part A for 2008. With Vantage Plans, the deductible for Part A is completely eliminated.

Medicare beneficiaries who have Part A are automatically enrolled in Part B, unless they inform the Social Security Administration that they do not want Part B. Part B has a monthly premium of $96.40 for 2008, and a deductible of $135 for 2008. With a Vantage Plan, beneficiaries will still have to pay their Part B premiums, but they no longer will have the deductible attached to it.

Medicare beneficiaries that opted for Part D coverage in January 2006, are paying a separate premium for the Part D, which generally averages about $24 a month depending on the beneficiaries' Part D plan and where they are located, as well as a $275 deductible for 2008. Vantage Plans eliminate the deductible and premium for Part D.

Medicare beneficiaries often try to reduce their deductibles and coinsurance with Original Medicare by purchasing Medicare Supplemental Policies, for which they pay a monthly premium for as well. Vantage Plans eliminate the need for a supplemental policy, because Vantage Plans eliminate all deductibles. Therefore, the monthly premium for a supplemental policy goes back into beneficiaries' pockets.
